The King Turns One

My baby boy turned ONE on May 30th, 2015! We planned an Elvis-themed party {Of course! I'm a Memphis girl}, and my mom came in town along with a few of our friends. It was so much fun, and Bert looked amazing in his jumpsuit. Can't believe it's been a year!

What's an Elvis party without a lifesize Elvis? 

A family friend made me these great record bowls for a wedding shower gift, They were perfect for this party!

The Bratton sweatshop was in full craft mode for this party - ha ha! I bought a bunch of old records from thrift shops to make the chandeliers.

Truth: I ate 10/12 of these cupcakes.

"All Shook Up" adult milkshakes were a hit. I made them in my Kitchenaide mixer, which was so much easier than a blender.

 We found these Elvis glasses with sideburns at a costume store in Austin on South Congress. So stinking cute! He kept them on for all of 5 seconds...

It's been a rainy May in Dallas, but thankfully the rain stayed away for a few hours.

 Bert really didn't smash the cake. He just kind of poked his finger in it and then smeared it in his hair :)  I think Rob and I ate most of it!

 The party was a success! Thank you, Thank you very much!

Robert, Age 6-12 month

My big boy is out of his helmet! He finally graduated from the second helmet in February 2015 at age 9 months. We are very pleased with his final results. We definitely feel it was worth it.

We have had a busy past 6 months. We had a visit from Aunt Melissa in December, and Bert loved getting to spend time with her at Kylde Warren Park.

He took his first flight to Charlotte, NC for Christmas. Rob’s parents live just outside Charlotte in Concord, NC. We had a great time, and celebrated Bert’s Baptism at Rob’s hometown church, First Presbyterian. We had lots of family and friends travel to be with us, and so we had a nice lunch all together at Cabarrus County Country Club afterwards. Bert got a ton of presents Christmas morning, but he was more interested in the wrapping paper.

In February, Bert had his first surgery (ear tubes). He is constantly sick in daycare, and after his 4^th bilateral ear infection we decided it was time to get something done. He recovered like a champ, and has been doing well since.

Bert started crawling around age 9 ½ months. Initially it was an “army crawl” on his elbows, but eventually he figured out that he could move faster with straight arms. He’s all over the place now! In April, we traveled to California for my cousin Katie’s wedding. Bert got to meet the whole Lynch family, and he loved playing with his cousins and great-grandma “GiGi”.

Around 10 months, he started pulling up and cruising around the furniture, getting ready to start walking. He also started saying “Mama, Dada, and Ball”. He’s slowly transitioning to solid food, but prefers baby food. He’s a picky eater (like daddy)!
